Foldscope was created with a vision to solve an accessibility problem in science… What began as a simple idea has grown into a company that provides low-cost tools to communities around the world!
Foldscope is the ultra-affordable paper microscope. It was designed to be portable and durable, while performing on par with conventional research microscopes (140X magnification and 2 micron resolution).
As a company, Foldscope Instruments Inc’s mission is to break down the price barrier between people & the curiosity and excitement of scientific exploration!

What Can You See With A Foldscope?
The Foldscope has a magnification of 140X and 2 micron resolution. With those capabilities, the many wonders of the microscopic world are at your fingertips! You can view very tiny things like bacteria, blood cells, and single-celled organisms. As well as larger things like a insects, fabrics, organic tissues, and more!

OUR STORY
Manu Prakash and team are encouraging curiosity and motivating the next generation of scientists, inventors and innovators by providing a million microscopes to children all over the world. Foldscope is a $1, pocket-sized, paper-based microscope that can magnify contents more than 2,000X.
